sniper
I need a sniper, all the ones I see are crap, I want one thats at least 500+fps and around $150. I really dont like L96's, I kinda want just a ordinary M40a3 looking bolt action. Any suggetions?

Re: sniper
From what I've seen that kind of FPS in that price range will be pretty hard to come by. Here's on that is 400 FPS and in your price range..it also comes with a scope and a few more add-ons. Also be aware that if you want a gun over 400 FPS you need to know that you minimum engagement distance also increase with 1 foot per FPS over you are. eg. 500 FPS is 125 ft. engagement 450 is 75 ft minimum distance..

Re: sniper

Re: sniper
spring, I know about the engagement stuff. thats why I have a skorpion for a back up. I found a A&K druganov for 160 which is good and shoots around 550 but its out of stock and I dont want a 400 fps sniper because my ak-74 is 396fps on the dot. I want one that can at least out range it by 100fps. I used to have a 435fps rifle and I chronoed it at 287fps which was really irritating to me so I want a sniper that'll do the job. I want it to be accurate and powerful at the same time. I will probably use .28 or .25.

Re: sniper
huh well i was thinking that i would like to make my ak-47 into a sniper and i know what you mean because i have a spring sniper i use .30 and its pretty accurate but if you look into gas you might have better luck meeting your expectations
i have looked into upgrading my springer but it costs almost as much as just buying a gas or a aeg that already shoots that. plus when you get a high powered spring it becomes harder to cock.

Re: sniper
yeah, Just all the good ones are out of stock or like $200. I cant find a good one around 130-170 bucks. Do you know of any? I thought of putting a scope on my ak-74 but what would it do? It doesnt go far enough that I need a optic. would it make it more accurate so I could hit a headsized target with ease at 50m?

Re: sniper
well if your looking to upgrade what you got i would through a longer inner barrel like a 600 or higher upgrade my gear box and spring and through on a scope if i was to upgrade my ak otherwise i would look for a gas bolt action sniper. but thats just me

Re: sniper
ok, I dont think I could upgrade the spring anymore, Its already at the 400fps limit but thanks anyways. I found a 150 dollar sniper thats 500fps though its shell ejecting, dont really want to have that in the feild.

Re: sniper
Nice, should I get a JG bar-10 and upgrade it? I'd probably just pay andrew haha. Just would it be worth it or would it be more then just buying a nice one from the start

Re: sniper
that i couldnt tell you ha because i have a stock spring bolt action and you have the issue with cocking the bolt with a bigger spring. but if you want to do that i would buy a used sniper and upgrade it seeing that you will replace a lot of parts.
then on the other hand if it were me i and wanted a sniper and was set on a bolt action i would look for a gas sniper rifle which provides easier cocking on the bolt and more constant accuracy. let me see if i can find the video about snipers

Re: sniper

Re: sniper
Ok, I have already looked into this and here is my two cents worth:
At weaponblender they have an L96 550fps upgrade kit (not just spring) for like $25! You cant beat it! Get an L96 and throw that puppy in there, then when you can afford it put in a 6.01 tight bore, and grab some .3 or higher bbs. You'll be all set.
On a side note, I have a Barrett 50cal that takes the L96 upgrade kit, and Ive been waiting for the last three months for them to get it in stock, but I think they just got it in. I've decided sniping isn't my thing, but if you want my gun you can buy it really reasonably. It even comes with a 6.04 tight bore! So you wouldnt feel as pressured to get the 6.01 in as fast.
I have a BSA 4-14 power scope, paid $100 new, sell for $30
Barrett 50cal, price new: $300 at evike, out of order, sell for $150
Real steel scope rings, paid $22, free with scope
I did a custom digital woodland paint job on it, but you could redo it or just go back to black
comes with a sweet pipod too
The main con of this gun is it is pretty heavy, although you get used to it pretty fast, at least I did. It is difficult to take standing shots though. Another thing is the hopup tends to move around as you shoot, but I assume you can open it up and tighten it or just get a new hopup. They are not that expensive.
Either way I think with the amazing price on the weaponblender l96 upgrade kit the L96 is the way to go. You can look on ksl or ebay for used ones, or shop around for a new one.

Re: sniper
My brother told me they have a Draganov at weapon blender, non electric, that is pre upgraded with an m170 spring for $170ish I think? Im sure it would need a tight bore, and maybe some other stuff, but that is one heck of a gun for the price!

This is great base gun for a sniper platform, on sale too. There's loads of upgrades available for it, and when tuned in properly will perform just as well as one of the high end bolt actions.

Re: sniper
how is it that that sniper that Andrew posted is 280FPS with an M170 spring like it says? hmmmmm.....
Re: sniper
I think the M170 is an optional upgrade and not the spring that's in it
