New team forming.

I'm looking at forming a team, the Gamble Mercenaries, and am looking for people interested in joining. There will be a small cost of $3, but that is for getting an armband. If I get a positive response, I will put up the full description for the Gamble Mercenaries.

I think that could be fun, but I think that I would like to get to know team members before anything else... For all I know you may not be able to hit the broad side of a barn.

When's the next game? I'll come and people can meet me.

These are the guidelines that me and my cousin drew up for the group:

Gamble Mercenaries

First off, this is not the Army. This is not the Marines. This is not the SAS, the Spetsnaz, the OpFor, or any other national military. Gamble is a mercenary organization. Here, we fight for ourselves, not for the glory of tracts of land divided by imaginary lines. We gamble our fortune, our honor, and our lives. Welcome to the brotherhood.

Mission Statement:
We are here to beat the pants off all those pretty boys who think their uniforms are some sort of magical shield. We intend to do it honorably. Fight well, and be rewarded. Fight badly, and be cannon fodder.

Uniform:
We don't have one. For the sake of practicality, try to wear dark colors or camo, but if that's not possible, show up in whatever you woke up wearing. The important thing is to make the other guy cry. You can do that wearing camo, plastic, or freaking banana peels. Remember, you are going to be getting shot at. Don't be stupid. The thing that unifies our outfits is the Gamble armband, which you will be issued shortly after joining.

Membership:
Gamble will take anyone: rookie, moron, or professional. There is a small fee of $3 when you sign up to cover the cost of the armband, and to help support future endeavors. Nobody will be making a profit off of the fees. The money will be going to help the whole group, not just the people in charge.

Organization:
Gamble uses its own structure, similar to real military structure. The ranks are named after cards in a deck. The CO is called Ace, and his executive officer is the Joker. Fire team leaders are called Kings, and their second-in-command is the Jack. Individual ranks within a fire team are numbered, with the highest number the next in command. Right now we're planning on 4-man fire teams.

Promotion:
Kings handle promotion within their own fire teams. They can handle this any way they see fit, but if their teammates don't think they're doing a good job, they can report their King to the Ace or ask for a transfer. They're practically guaranteed to be able to get said transfer; we would prefer though to be able to keep established fire teams, so that they can get used to playing with each other.
If the time comes for the Ace to be replaced, the Kings will decide among themselves who should replace him. The new Ace will hand-pick his Joker. When Kings are replaced, the new King will be chosen from within the same fire team. The fire team will have to decide who they want to be their new King, and the King will pick his Jack. If the fire team is unable to pick any one player, the Ace will do it for them.
If a new fire team is created, the King for that team will be chosen by the other Kings, but will have to be confirmed by the Ace. He will pick his Joker (who cannot be an officer from another fire team), and the Ace will assign players to the new fire team.

Rewards:
Since this is a mercenary organization, there are plans to make some kind of tangible reward system. However, there is nothing decided yet.

cva dusnt really use teams anymore... from what scott told me 2 days ago ne ways...

this might be true, but we're not really CVA. We just want to get our own team/squad going, and it seems like this is a good place to start looking for players in Cache Valley.

With the rewards, I'm thinking of a kill= 1 point type thing, and you can chalk up points for free stuff, like around a thousand for a $200 AEG or gear. nothing is solid, but I promise that our rewards will be rewarding.

Unless the $3 fee is going to be a monthly fee I don't see how you are going to pay for the rewards. Perhaps if you had a sponsor. Just throwing that out there.

I would suggest doing something other than based on kills. If you have a reward that is of value like a $200 gun then I know plenty of people who are going to lie. There really isn't a way to keep track of kills unless you are always on the field as a referee. If you do want to reward people make it something where you or another leader decide when someone has done something amazing to deserve honoring. Like, "way to go Reid you were the best meat shield in that game. Here's a smoked ham."

we know the $3 fee won't cover a reward system; we're planning on funding things ourselves somewhat. a sponsor would be good, but not likely and we know that. but like ace said, nothing is set in stone right now. what we need now is interest, then we'll worry about finding a way to reward teammates.

Glad to see people are interested! Now Ace and I just have to get out to a game so we can try and really do some recruiting.

we've got an idea for how to run a rewards system, if anyone's interested:

any game where Gamble plays (as a team) and wins, any survivors will get 1 point. At the end of the day (or other time period, still to be decided) all players will get a share of some reward (probably a big bag of candy, with some other goodies, like chips, drinks, possibly subway sandwiches, or bb's). The players with the most points get to pick first, then the next highest, and so on. All officers are guaranteed one point, even if Gamble never wins a game that day or they never survive. It's a rough idea, looking for feedback.

Maybe get your team started and rostered first then decide as a group.

How is the Gamble Mercenaries team coming along?

It'll probably for into just a family team, but I'm thinking of trying to just get a few joiners before DW2.

For now, we will not be doing rewards, and registration will be free. Once we get a few guys, then we'll talk about rewards.
