Hit/Out players and the dead rag

So it's bad enough getting hit the first time. It's even worse to really get lit up while you're trying to exit the field of play by someone mistaking you for a combatant. The best way to avoid this is to identify yourself as a non-combatant as you're exiting.
I've added a peice of bright red cloth to my rolling gear, stuffed into a pouch where I can get to it easily. I'm sure a more than a few watched me walk off wearing the thing on my head, but noone shot at me. I would encourage everyone to fabricate a 'dead rag' either with a red handkerchief, red beanie, or just a rip up a red shirt for one.

Why not take this and make it part of the required safety rules?

Blaze orange should be fine, anything hi-viz that players will recognize as you being dead. I'll go ahead and add it to the safeties.

I never did like being told what I had to do. Make it a recommendation, and tell people not to whine if they get shot when they don't have one.

I totally feel ya, we can't enforce people carrying a red rag

Re: Hit/Out players and the dead rag
At our last game I talked with a couple of people about making the dead rag a mandatory item for games. I've mulled it over in my mind and here are my thoughts on it. It's up to you whether or not you have one. I was told that none of the guys using dead rags on Saturday got hit accidentally once they were out. There were a few people who did get hit who didn't have one.
I recommend that everyone eventually has something bright that they can pull out to show that they are hit and out of play. It isn't required but if you do not have one you don't get to complain if you are hit again. That of course doesn't mean that people get to be jerks and shoot people again because they don't have one and you know they are out already.

Re: Hit/Out players and the dead rag
I think that we need to seriously consider making this a mandatory rule. Tempers were rising on saturday over this issue. If we use the rag we can then mandate a forced respawn for anyone shooting someone with a rag. My problem with this is that the person normally gets shot after they are well away from cover and it is never a single hit.
