For a month I have been waiting for a guy from Salt Lake to get back to me about a Tokyo Marui 18C Automatic Electric Pistol he was selling. I called today and the purchase has fallen through. So now I am back to where I started which is deciding whether to wait for a good deal to come again or buy a knock off brand.

Anyone have any suggestions on a good reliable AEP that looks good and will work well for years to come. Basically I have TM guns and they have lasted me a long time with very little trouble, so I am really hesitant about getting other brands. I know that Classic Army and HFC are dependable, but they don't have any electric pistols from what I have seen. The only ones out there that do have good looking ones are China knock off brands. I need to get one soon because some day someone will be hiding in a building and I need to have a sidearm.

The only AEP's worth a darn are going to be made by TM or CYMA (who essentially clones the TM AEP's). Broc found a nice deal on a CYMA Glock18C on www.hitguns.com for $39.99 shipped. Might be worth looking into.

You believe they stuff a gearbox and battery in the little sucker?

I bought the DE 81 from weapon blender. Pretty anemic FPS (around 200) according to the box. I haven't seen one other than the Cyma and there is an M93 as well. Here is the link to one on ebay

The one on ebay has it posted at 280 fps but the ones I saw online are posting around 225 fps with .20 bbs. I'll try to find a link to one in a shop

Heres a link to a TSD M93R at Hobbytron. Note-I've have heard terrible things about hobbytron in the short time i've been airsofting.

Yeah, the CYMA looks to be alright and it is nice that they have the ability to "supposedly" change out with real TM parts. There is also a Matrix version available on Evike.com that looks to be well made and their reviews seem alright. http://cnnentertainment.co.nr/2008/SHOWBIZ/Music/04/01

My gut says, "don't do it you will find the real deal for that price some day." Yet I don't want to wait for someday because I want to have it by May at the latest. Though currently it looks like I am going to have to wait because our car needs a lot of work done maybe even replacing. Thanks for the links everyone, if you happen across anything else or hear from others let me know.

Ok, so I got the CYMA model of the Glock and played with it on Saturday. Sadly whenever I seem to get a new gun one of my old ones doesn't work that day. It was $48 with shipping costs and got her pretty quick from Weaponblender.com. When I went into the store they weren't the best at customer service and probably could have cared less that I was even there, but at least their products are good.
I need to test it a bit more carefully but I found that when I had .25 in it they were shooting a lot more accurately and didn't drop down as soon. Of course they are basically floating to their target at a slow pace of 200 fps, but they float accurately. The rate of fire is pretty good with it flipped to full auto and it doesn't loose any more accuracy than any AEG when firing like this. I like that it was particularly useful for crawling around the thick stuff as I didn't have to manage a cumbersome full sized rifle while sneaking behind the enemy and making mad dashes for the objectives.
Overall I would say that it is a great spend for $40 if you happen to be in the area as it is an excellent side arm. I think there will be some upgrades coming to it in the future to beef up the fps and maybe even get a better power supply with an attachment of a tactical light. If I had those I would probably run around with it all the time, it just got kind of frustrating having people in my sights but knowing that I didn't have the range with just a pistol.

Let me know how it feeds with lower quality bbs. The magazines on my DE 81 won't feed low quality bbs. The bbs themselves bind up.

I think I am going to stay away from the lower quality bbs since I have read in several spots that it can jam up the gun and put unwanted wear on the gears. Also I have learned through dropping a couple magazines that they don't like to stay in there. I am not sure if it a problem with the holster hitting the release or just not being very secure. I'll have to do some tests.
