Battery Trouble Empty Battery Trouble

Today Chris Zarth and I had a battery fry. The shrinkwrap has been burnt through. The wires inside look a little black...should we just trash it? The battery still works...but we are worried about the effects of said accident on the battery. Zarth wants to know if the life of the battery will be hindered....
