Ran across this today and must say that I like it. I would vote for this to be standard fare in our games.

Here's another one...

New medic format Empty Re: New medic format

I read a really slick way to implement med kits in an Airsoft game where players can be healed. The idea was to give each player a 3' long piece of rope that is carried throughout the game. The rope is knotted five times. When a player is hit they go down and wait for ANY player (i'll explain why in a minute) to come up to them. The new player then pulls out their knotted rope and unties the knots. The idea being that this takes a few minutes and represents them giving treatment to the wounded. When all the knots are undone the rope is tied around the wounded player's arm.

Here's where it gets interesting. If the healing player is on the wounded player's team the wounded is healed and can return to play. If the healing player is on the opposite team the wounded player is healed but is a POW.

I have tried to think of a way for there not to be a specific medic but a limited number of respawns and I like the way they do it. Just have each individual keep track of their heals like with the rope (though I would find something different). I think that would be a good game. Often times we have Medics like myself and Scott who can only stay back for so long before we want to charge in. We don't have the self control Andrew has. So this would be an interesting way to play it. I also like the idea of POW game. You've got me thinking and an idea is forming now.

Another way we have done medics before it giving them a certain number of bandages and once they are tied to someone that's it. When you run out your are done healing. Now I just need to get Aaron playing with us again because he has our stash of Medic gear. I would like to move away from just the 10 second touch. Also, I think we should start forming ideas for several big events where everyone shows up and has a certain class designated by their team leader: support gunner (gets extra ammo and can use full auto), sniper, medic, rifleman, and so on. It would be fun to get into the challenge of really working as a team. So start churning ideas. I think it would be good to have a more specific set of rules for medics in games.

I like the class designation. I would like to get one more big game in before snow is here to stay. I'll be in Cedar City the weekend of the 8th but available any weekend after that. Let's set a date and flesh out the scenario from there.
