Sadness Strikes Again Empty Sadness Strikes Again

Post by Donknottz Fri Aug 27, 2010 11:30 pm

While getting ready for the yard sale we were watching Netflix on the Xbox in the background. Suddenly it frozed up. I tried it a few times with the same results. The interweb told me that it was the start of the red ring of death and within 5-6 start ups I got the lucky lights. Praise be for the extended warranty on a poorly made piece of junk console. The question I ponder now is whether to stick with the xbox? This will be the third time I have sent in a console for this same issue. Luckily it all happens within 3 years of each repair or I would use it for target practice and never touch the product again.

So, my question is whether it would be worth while to make the switch to PS3? Get the blue ray upgrade along with some fun new games. Try to sell the old console towards the cost of upgrading. It has quite a few fun games that we like to play though (Arcade purchases) that would be sad to lose. Any opinions or other thoughts on the subject. I rarely get a chance to play the darn thing and we mostly use it to watch movies. So it doesn't really detract from airsoft to have a console which is important.

I've heard that for $50 fun unlimited will replace it with an arcade version, hang on to your hard drive and accessories. Worked for my brother in law. Ask them about xbox repair

You can usually fix the Red Ring of Death.

PS3 is a more powerful system. However you'll have to buy all the accessories etc which is going to cost you a boat load.

I've already filled out the repair order and will be shipping it off shortly for free. I was more interested with how people have liked their PS3 machines.

PS3s are wonderful. Great games, though not nearly enough ps3 exclusive games. PSN provides the same internet as xbox live gold account for free, and the controllers feel a lot better. however, with some of the older systems, they have been getting yellow lights of death, similar to the 360's, but not quite as often.

ps3 dus everything an xbox can and more Smile the yellow light of death only comes on (that i know of) when u leave it on for a month or so i left it on for 3 weeks and when i got home right before i turned it off it shut itself down to cooldown so u will probably never get the yellow dot of death... maybe o.O

i've had my xbox for about 2 years with no problem. even bought it used. it's just the luck of the draw, but if you're looking to retool i might be interested in some of your 360 games and/or accessories.
