stripped bevel gear
hey guys i have a question i downgraded my spring in my gun from a m120 to a m100 but the m100 spring is about 1 inch longer then the m120 and today i stripped out my bevel gear all the teeth are gone ha so i was wondering if you think it was the spring or just a stripped gear?

Tougher spring is going to be harder to pull but usually you see that kind of wear on the spur gear or sector. If the bevel gear broke, it's likely fine to keep your current setup, replace the bevel gear and carry on

Re: stripped bevel gear
ok so does the length of the spring cause more stress on gears? i understand that if the spring is stronger its harder to pull back but does the weaker spring but longer length create the same tension on the gears?

Re: stripped bevel gear
I'd imagine a shorter tenser spring rated for 400fps or so is going to put the same pressure against the piston as a longer weaker spring rated for the same fps would. Does that make sense? What spring are you using?

Re: stripped bevel gear
I put in the m100 systema It was recommended to get to lower the fps. Although I'm not sure if its putting out the same as the stock spring ha

Re: stripped bevel gear
Yeah I doubt the gear broke as a result of an overpowered spring. Do you need a new bevel gear? I've got a little case full of the little buggers. JG grade.

Re: stripped bevel gear
i remember yesterday when we played that WAR game type down with NUAC, probably one of the best battles I've had.. is that when you stripped your gears?
Re: stripped bevel gear
@panzer yeah that would be great is there a difference in brand?

Re: stripped bevel gear
I've got one with the four catch points for the anti-reversal latch, like that guarder, but not black anodized steel. It's probably not as tough as the guarder either but it's free.

Re: stripped bevel gear
ok thanks panzer!!! how could i get it from you? so im assuming that the anodized steel is stronger but i think that was what the gear in the mechbox was ha also there is a spring on the motor that looks like it stabilizes the motor from when it starts and stops and my question is should this spring look outta line? if that makes sense ha

Re: stripped bevel gear
hehe I think I get what you're asking. I wouldn't worry about that spring looking a little skiwompas, it's just to help with motor adjustment. As long as it's putting outward pressure on the motor it's doin it's job.
As for getting you the gear it's not too heavy would probably only be a dollar or two to ship, or we're heading to Morgan for the NUAC spring opener if you're going to that I could get it to you there.
