Good investment! Certainly cheaper than replacing your reddot after a hit. I snagged one of these:

i've got one on my m4 and my ak. they're good as long as they stay clean. you get any kind of muck in the general area, then your dot lens and the shield both being dirty makes it even harder to see through.

not necessarily dirt. light rain, shake a tree and dust comes down, just particles of whatever.
