Well, more like don't pull one on a cop when he's pointing a gun at you and yelling at you to hit the ground. But still, No disagreements with gunbags and not pulling them in public.

well the dead guy made his choice and doesn't deserve much if any sympathy for it. and i agree with you ghost that this could've been resolved if he'd just followed the officer's commands, but picture this.

2 airsoft noobs at the parking area to the field. they're noobs so they might not know any better (this would be the fault of all other associated airsofters for not telling them first) than to raise their guns in view of the public. they raise towards each other with no intention to shoot, just goofin around. right then, a rookie cop rounds the corner and all he sees is a gun going up, and with a snap decision, shoots for the center mass. pretty far stretch but not outside the realm of possibility. it's the nightmare we think about every time we pull a big cumbersome gunbag out of our little cars. "why do i even bring this big dumb bag? cuz i could get shot without it, that's why."

this one here came so close cuz the kid was some dumb immature noob.

There are a few veterans that I can think of that take their guns out of there cars at the parking area to do repairs or (censored) about their gun in some way...

I'll play devils advocate on this one, since I enjoy it:

Openly carrying a firearm in public is perfectly legal. I have on several occasions open carried my 9mm on my hip in a holster in walmart, the mall, Lowe's, and else where. It is called open carry. There are restrictions, and anyone considering doing it should first do their homework. opencarry.org is a good place to start.

One might ask why I or anyone else would accept the hassles and risks of open carrying (especially since I have my permit and can carry concealed, thereby forgoing many of the risks and hassles). The short explanation is that most kids these days have NO experience with firearms. Their only exposure is TV, video games, and what teachers teach them, none of which is usually very accurate or positive. Open carry is a movement by responsible gun owners to remind America that more than half of the households in America have guns in them.

Air soft guns likewise are perfectly legal to openly carry. Any problems that have or will develop are most likely caused by other factors, some of which could be:
Brandishing
Failure to obey law enforcement
Cops with bad attitudes overstepping their bounds
Carrying in forbidden areas, such as federal facilities and private property who have posted no gun policies, schools, etc.

In summery, I pretty much always carry my air soft gun in my case, however it is inappropriate to expect or rebuke others for open carrying.

Ps. A normal citizen can open carry a firearm that is loaded, provided it is at least two actions from firing. A Concealed Carry Permit holder can open or concealed carry a firearm that is 100% ready to go.
