Manhunt Night Op - DC upper - (June TBA)

For these games, you will need a flashlight.

Scenario- During a night recon flight, a little bird helicopter was hit by a SAM and went down. Local militia have quickly moved in on the downed bird. One of the pilots is KIA, and the other is missing. We picked up a short radio signal after the chopper hit the ground, so we believe that the pilot is still alive. We need to secure the pilot and an evac zone.

1st game- Rangers vs Militia- this will be played as it is starting to get dark. A small group of rangers (4 or 5 people) have to secure the pilot. The pilot will be marked as a flag for this game. There are no respawns for the rangers, and one respawn for the militia members. Militia will have a 60 second in place respawn. The rangers win by getting to the pilot. Militia wins by killing all the rangers.

2nd game- manhunt- the pilot, armed only with a knife and a springer pistol, has to make it back to an evac point. All militia will have flashlights and whatever armament they want, will hunt for him. The flashlights must remain on until you are hit. There are no respawns. if the rangers one the first scenario, the pilot will have a ranger escort and can have a gas pistol.

We can also do several other scenarios. Please post if you'd like to do it and what you'd want to do.

My main suggestion for any night op (since you haven't picked a date) is to plan it for a full moon in an area you know gets moon light. Canyons are not always well illuminated even if it is a full moon. I would suggest that Mantua has a more open field for light and a bit more width to work with. Plus there are nearby camping areas that are off the field.

For the manhunt scenario may I suggest that you have several downed pilots that need to get to perhaps 3 different locations (collect three different items to get their radio working). Once they are hit they are out and they become one of the militia. Whichever pilot last the longest wins or whoever is able to get to all three objectives first. Give the militia a respawn at the point where they are hit (They lay down and turn off their light). They are back in the game if one of the other militia finds their unconscious/dead body (with a minimum waiting time of 1 minute). Otherwise they get back up on their own after 3 minutes with no recollection of what just happened.

I like what James said. I would also add that the militia be limited in some fashion since they will outnumber the rangers so bad. Maybe pistol and shottie only with one or two AEGs limited to semi-auto. Not sure that is the correct mix but something along those lines.

I plan on having this after DW2, so once I see the mantua field, then we might decide. If so, we can invite NUAC to participate. I do like the idea of mantua, however. A camping site also would allow those who want to do a two day thing to be able to do it.

my big concern is people getting lost in the dark. Any ideas on how to set clear limits?

I would make it a mandatory head count after every game. Not just a, oh he is over at the cars, but that one person has to personally see every player on the field after every game. I would also be very hesitant to allow younger players to come. If you require that everyone has to have a flashlight with them at all time that will help.

If it would help I believe I still have a bunch of glow sticks left over from the zombie over night event we held. You're welcome to them. I thought it would be a fun game to designate teams based upon the color of the glowstick strapped to their head.

Glow sticks strapped to the head is a bad idea.

That is the only place people will shoot at. I don't know about you but I hate being shot in the face.

Either that, or we can put the glowstics on the boundaries of the field, and you don't go past the boundaries. That makes sure no one gets lost.

Glowsticks at the boundaries would work. We'd just need to put them up while it was light so we know where to recover all of them. my only problem with that idea is there is still a lot of potential for us accidently leaving stuff behind. I don't want to ruin our rep with the cops and forest service.

Start your game early enough that people can play a game while there is plenty of light. This gives them a chance to familiarize themselves with the boundaries of the field. That will solve most of your problems. Once it is dark people will get disoriented, but if things at least are familiar to them it should help a lot. I wouldn't put up anything for boundaries.

Few new updates on the game plan. We should be starting the games around 5. This will give us a lot of light to get familiar with the field. Militia will be limited to semi auto. For you with springer pistols, or pistols in general, bring them.

I've added a new game type for earlier in the afternoon. Yes, I read too much about the Mogadishu ranger mission (AKA blackhawk down) before designing these.

Earlier this year, the small, independant nation of Uzra was thrown into political turmoil. A terrorist group was able to destroy both the American embassy and the nation's capital, killing the president and his cabinet, and dragging the US into the conflict. Several groups are taking responsibility for the attack, including several lead generals in the military and Al-Qeida. Militant groups have also been forming, seizing control of the outlying towns and villages away from the capitol. NATO has sent peacekeepers to help with the situation, and have called on the US to help with restoring peace in the capitol.

Word has reached us, however, that one of the rogue generals has fled the capitol and is seeking refuge in the mountains with his few remaining supporters. We expect their force to be about two hundred strong. However, most of them are believed to be local militia and not military forces. We are sending you, the 2nd battalion, 75th regiment rangers, to take care of the general. Eliminate him, his top lieutenant, and as many of his followers as possible.

Force on Force/ VIP- The Rangers' goal is to kill the general his top lieutenant. Rangers have two respawns. The militia needs to eliminate the Rangers. Militia have 60 second respawn, and are limited to single fire only. No weapon type restrictions for this game. The VIPs have only one life and have no weapon or fire restrictions. the Ranger team will know who their targets are. the VIPs will also wear something to help distinguish themselves from the other militia.

Ranger victory- In the manhunt and ranger vs. militia games, the militia will have a sixty second respawn, after which they need to be helped up by a teammate. they will also be limited to the number of AEGs they can have, or have ammo restrictions.

Militia victory- The militia have gained new weapons and extra ammo and have growing numbers. There will not be weapon restrictions for them, and a limited amount of them can go full auto. also, militia in the following games will have either a 60 second respawn OR they can walk to a respawn zone.
