Can I borrow your ______

Post by Donknottz on Fri Apr 30, 2010 11:56 am

I've played for a long time and seen many sad events when someone has broken something on their gun or destroyed it completely. These are sad times and what is usually even sadder is when what was broken, was borrowed. This is why many people will remind whoever is borrowing their gear that if you break it you buy it. Which also means that if you drop it on a rock and damage it, you repair it if possible. I hope that if you are bringing friends and posting "I can come, but can someone lend me an AEG?" that you are passing on to your guest that they are responsible for the gear they borrow. Along with that, if your friend is a flake, you are responsible if something goes wrong. If you want to bring someone, like a 15 year old cousin, that can't afford to pay to replace a $150 AEG if it were broken during play, then you shouldn't give them that item. This isn't what I really wanted to post about, but I thought it was important that as you bring guest you remind them of these facts.

What I really wanted to say is that if you are ever borrowing equipment from someone then be courteous and give them some money. Don't be the jerk who borrows a truck from someone and bring it back with only fumes in the tank and the truck-bed lined with manure remnants. Instead bring it back with a full tank of gas and a "if you ever need anything from me, just let me know" attitude. If you borrow an AEG that means you are putting some wear on the gun and battery. These things need maintenance and replacement from time to time which costs money. Not to mention the fact that the person who bought it had to fork out some initial cash to get the thing in the first place and they are being nice enough to let you use it. Give a couple bucks the next time you borrow from someone. They shouldn't have to ask. They aren't a rental company. You wouldn't tell your friends, "yeah you can borrow my truck but it costs 75 cents a mile and $20 for every day you have it." Do you get my point! Now if you borrow someone's camo pants, radio, goggles, or other items that don't really get any wear from use then it doesn't matter unless you damage it. So the next time you borrow please consider what I have said. This also applies to bb borrowing. In a game I am happy to share my bbs and 100 rounds doesn't really matter to most, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be nice if you gave them some bbs later or a couple bucks.

For those who do borrow from me. Don't take this as a "so why haven't you ever paid me" post. I just thought I would present this for discussion amongst our group and help some of our newer players understand the situation better.
