Clip vs Magazine

It's an excersize in restraint for me when I hear people misuse the term Clip. I really try not to correct people (audibly). It's a mundane detail to most as everyone knows exactly what you mean when you say "I'm loading another clip", but using proper terminology just helps further assure everyone you know which end of that boomstick goes bang. As knowledge is power etc etc.. :

*the reason for the exception for the M1 garand is that the clip acts as a magazine when inserted into the rifle. It is ejected when empty and another entire clip, rounds and all is loaded into the rifle. Perhaps this is where it all started. In that case I blame the canadians who developed the Garand.
